The Blakeney Summerhouse
With its sloping roof and widely overhanging eaves, a Chalet is a much loved style of building up and down the gardens of Britain. With its many glazed panels you can bring the outside in. A real classic design finished to the highest of standards.
These buildings make perfect settings for alfresco dining or indeed just as extra space.
Building Styles & Options

The Blakeney Summerhouse comes in a rang eof sizes to suit all types of gardens. You can then choose the doors and windows to suit you. One of the great services that we provide is that as we make each building to order we can produce none standard sizes and designs whenever and wherever required.
Lining and Insulation
To create the perfect all-season retreat, increase comfort and decrease noise levels we can offer lining and insulation for your Summerhouse.
To insulate your building, it will be manufactured with a breathable paper membrane trapped between the studwork which acts as a moisture trap. We go on to fill the cavity with insulation. There are then 2 options for lining your Summerhouse:
Show MoreRoof Coverings
Our standard roofing cover is an extreme-wear, heavy duty, 35kg green mineralised felt. We also offer red and grey slate effect roofing tiles, very stylish cedar shingles or the environmentally sound and attractive green roof option.
Show MoreRoof Overhang
The Blakeney comes with a 400mm roof overhang as standard, for both attractiveness and to protect the façade of your Summmerhouse.
Paint Systems
Crane Sheds and Summerhouses have worked closely with SIKKENS and VALTTI to make available the best possible coatings systems for your building. Choose from the following optional paint systems.
Sikkens
Crane Sheds and Summerhouses have worked closely with SIKKENS to create a coating system which provides long lasting protection for your building yet still allows the grain to be seen, enhancing the natural beauty of the timber. SIKKENS was shown to be the best translucent wood stain in trials carried out by TRADA (The Timber Research and Development Association).
Show MoreValtti
This fully opaque Scandinavian coating system will enhance any building giving an extremely durable low maintenance solid colour finish. This four coat system has been proved to give the best possible protection for exterior timber. If our standard colours shown do not complement your surroundings it is possible to match any colour at an extra charge.
Show MoreDoor Options
Our standard summerhouse doors are joinery made double doors, constructed from hemlock (which is a timber particularly suitable for doors as apart from being durable it is far less susceptible to movement and warping than other timbers traditionally used in doors). They are fully glazed with 4mm toughened safety glass and finished with the finest brass fittings.
Show MoreWindows
The joiners in our workshop manufacture the windows to our own very high standards. They are glazed with 4mm toughened glass as a standard safety feature. Choose where to put your windows in your building or choose to have none and whether to make any opening windows. We can offer Georgian effect or Velux as alternative styles.
Show MoreCladding Options
Our timber cladding is machined from very high quality Redwood grown in North Sweden, close to the arctic circle. These slowly grown trees produce a much more dense and stable timber than others. Our buildings are clad in shiplap as standard but we also offer weatherboard cladding for a more rustic finish
Show MoreFloor Options
Our standard and robust floorboards are set on closely spaced tanalised floor joists. If you are storing particularly heavy items or machinery we would recommend our heavy duty floor or should you be spending long periods of time in your building then we would advise on our underfloor insulation.
Show MorePartitions
Make your building multi-functional by sectioning and separating the space. Add storage to the back or side of your summerhouse for outdoor furniture etc.
Show MorePotting Bench
Add your chosen size potting or workbench to your summerhouse for your gardening or hobby needs or simply create a tropical plant area to admire and enjoy. Solid or slatted.
Show MoreElectric Packs
For lighting and using any equipment in your building, you may wish to consider our electric pack. Professionally fitted by qualified electricians who take all the wiring to a consumer unit ready for you to connect to your electricity supply. Internal wiring will be fitted behind any internal lining. We can also supply your building with a heater.
Show MoreBase
All our buildings require a level solid base of the correct size. We offer a base service.
