Building Sizes

Our Blakeney Summerhouses are available in a range of sizes:

2.4 x 1.8m (8 x 6ft) to 6.0 x 6.0m (20 x 20ft)

The Blakeney Summerhouse comes in a rang eof sizes to suit all types of gardens. You can then choose the doors and windows to suit you. One of the great services that we provide is that as we make each building to order we can produce none standard sizes and designs whenever and wherever required.

Lining and Insulation

The Blakeney Summerhouse does not come lined and insulated as standard. We do offer lining and insulation for this range if you require it.

To have your building lined and insulated means that you can use it all year round, it enhances the look and feel of the Summerhouse as well as decreasing noise and increasing comfort.

For the roof we have a 4 tier lining and insulation process; we insulate between the ply layer and the internal matchboard tongue and groove lining and finish the building with your choice of roofing material.

For the walls, we insulate your building, by trapping a breathable paper membrane between the studwork which acts a moisture trap. We go on to fill the cavity with insulation. There are then 2 options for lining your Summerhouse:

Natural matchboard lining

We can line with our highest grade tongue and groove matchboarding (15mm) leaving a natural warm feel.

Painted matchboard lining

We can use a channeled, secret-nailed, tongue and groove matchboarding (15mm) with 3 coats of paint leaving a satin, off-white finish which achieves a bright, clean and airy look.

Roof Coverings

The Blakeney Summerhouse comes with an extreme-wear, heavy duty, 35kg green mineralised felt roof covering. We can also offer Cedar Shingles or Slate Effect roof tiles.

Felt

We use extreme-wear, heavy duty 35kg green mineralised felt as standard on our Blakeney Summerhouses.

Cedar Shingles

We use only the finest quality Canadian Blue Label Cedar Shingles expertly tiled by our own skilled craftsmen to give a traditional finish which will 'silver' with age. They are expected to last 25-35 years and they complete the charm of your Summerhouse.

 

Terracotta

Slate Effect Tiles

These individually laid synthetic slates finally bring nature and technology together providing the ultimate protection against UV rays, wind, hail and fire.

This roofing product carries a 50 year limited warranty. Opt for a more traditional grey or terracotta for a different look which looks great with the lighter paint shades.

Roof Overhang

The Blakeney comes with a 400mm roof overhang as standard, for both attractiveness and to protect the façade of your Summmerhouse.

Paint Systems

The Blakeney Summerhouses come treated with a light oak wood preservative. This protects the timber as well as adding a light stain. We can also offer other paint systems as Crane Sheds and Summerhouses have worked closely with SIKKENS and VALTTI to make available the best possible coatings systems for your building. Choose from the following optional paint systems.

Sikkens

Crane Sheds and Summerhouses have worked closely with SIKKENS to create a coating system which provides long lasting protection for your building yet still allows the grain to be seen, enhancing the natural beauty of the timber. SIKKENS was shown to be the best translucent wood stain in trials carried out by TRADA (The Timber Research and Development Association).

Door Options

Within our workshops, we house our own Joinery Works so we make the double doors for our Summerhouses. This ensures that the high quality that we demand is met and we can offer a bespoke service. Our doors are constructed from hemlock, which is a timber particularly suitable for doors as apart from being durable it is far less susceptible to movement and warping than other timbers traditionally used in doors. They are fully glazed consisting of 4 panes, using 4mm toughened safety glass and finished with the finest brass fittings.

Windows

We make our own windows within our Joinery Works. The windows are made up of large, square panes featuring 4mm toughened safety glass and finished with solid brass furniture. It is possible to add further sets if you desire.

The Blakeney in the smaller sizes (up to 4.2 m in width), comes with 2 fixed, double pane window sets. In the larger sizes (4.8m wide and over) there are 4 sets of fixed, double pane windows at the front. With all Blakeney Summerhouses there is a fixed double pane window set on each side of the building. It is possible to add further sets if you desire. Each pane is 600mm x 600mm (2 foot square).

The summerhouse has a number of optional window styles and features to enhance the look of your building:

Blakeney Windows

Velux

Add one or more Velux windows to your building to gain extra natural light. The roof window can be fitted in any part of the roof. It is only possible to have roof windows in apex style buildings with either Cedar Shingles or Slate Effect roof covering.

Double glazed windows

Have your windows double glazed for added insulation and reduced condensation.

Opening windows

You can substitute any fixed window for an opening sash.

Additional windows

You may wish to add additional windows to your building for added light. Each window is 600 x 600mm (2' x 2'). If you wish for a different size or style of window this is possible as all buildings are made to order, please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Georgian windows

Make your windows Georgian for a more traditional look.

Cladding Options

Our timber cladding is machined from very high quality Redwood grown in North Sweden, close to the arctic circle. These slowly grown trees produce a much more dense and stable timber than others. Our buildings are clad in shiplap as standard but we also offer weatherboard cladding for a more rustic finish

Floor Options

Our standard and robust floorboards are set on closely spaced tanalised floor joists. If you are storing particularly heavy items or machinery we would recommend our heavy duty floor or should you be spending long periods of time in your building then we would advise on our underfloor insulation.

Partitions

Make your building multi-functional by sectioning and separating the space. Add storage to the back or side of your summerhouse for outdoor furniture etc.

Electric Packs

For lighting and using any equipment in your building, you may wish to consider our electric pack.  Professionally fitted by qualified electricians who take all the wiring to a consumer unit ready for you to connect to your electricity supply.  Internal wiring will be fitted behind any internal lining.  We can also supply your building with a heater.

Access to where you wish your building to be installed is never a problem to us as each building is designed and built to order which means that we can make the building in such a way that it can fit through restricted access areas and be installed exactly where the building is required.
