Environmental Policy and Strategy

Crane Sheds and Summerhouses are committed to reducing our impact on the environment, both by supplying sustainable and environmentally friendly products, manufacturing and delivering these in the most efficient way possible and reducing and recycling where possible.

Operations

Transport

We look to use modern and efficient vehicles to reduce our CO2 delivery.  We are in the process of investigating the use of bio fuels.

We also encourage a car sharing scheme getting to and from work.

Recycling and Reducing Landfill

90% of all our waste is timber, which is all recycled through a wood burner heating our factory; our remaining waste is back sorted for recycling.  70% of our remaining waste is recycled, meaning only 3% of our waste is land filled.

Treatments

Water based preservatives are used on all our treatments.

Purchasing

We are continuously working with our suppliers to increase the amount of environmentally friendly and ethically sourced products we offer.

Timber

Over 85% of our Timber is FSC Certified.  We are currently working towards our own chain of Certification.

Roofing Material

We are increasing our volume of inspire roofing material, which are manufactured from recycled car tyres, and we are continuously going out of our way to promote and sell this.
