Building Sizes

Our Garden Rooms are available in a range of sizes:

3.0 x 3.0m (10 x 10ft) to 5.4 x 6.0m (18 x 20ft)

As we make all our buildings we can produce non-standard sizes and designs. Your Garden Room will be built to a generous 2.1m to eave height. Included within your building are the following for you to choose from:

Building Design

The information laid out below gives a full account of all the elements that are included within your Garden Room. You can choose the cladding that your Garden Room is built with to suit the style that you are going for. We fully line and insulate your building from floor to ceiling; this coupled with the electrics, light fittings and heating that we install ensure your Garden Room is for use all year round. You can choose the finish for your roof from either Cedar Shingles or slate-effect tiles. Included within your build are a set of double doors and 4 sets of opening windows, you can decide on the style of these. We finish your building to an excellent standard by fitting solid wood skirting and coving, finishing your floor with a lacquer, using solid brass furniture on the doors and windows, fitting guttering and painting your Garden Room with our Valtti colour system, which has an unrivalled longevity and is available in many beautiful colours to compliment your surroundings.

We can add design elements into your build such as insetting your doors, adding corner posts, extra doors and windows, building in an extra roof overhang, a veranda…… We can also personalise your Garden Room by adding extra rooms within it, installing Velux windows……we would be happy to discuss these with you.

Lining and Insulation

Your Garden Room will be fully lined and insulated (roof, walls and floor). This allows for year round use, increases comfort and decreases noise levels as well as finishing the building in a beautiful manner.

For the roof we have a 4 tier lining and insulation process; we insulate between the ply layer and the internal matchboard tongue and groove lining and finish the building with your choice of roofing material.

For the walls, we insulate your building, by trapping a breathable paper membrane between the studwork which acts a moisture trap. We go on to fill the cavity with insulation. There are then 2 options for lining your Summerhouse:

Natural matchboard lining

We can line with our highest grade tongue and groove matchboarding (15mm) leaving a natural warm feel.

Painted matchboard lining

We can use a channeled, secret-nailed, tongue and groove matchboarding (15mm) with 3 coats of paint leaving a satin, off-white finish which achieves a bright, clean and airy look.

Floor Insulation

We fully insulate beneath the floorboards for increased comfort.

We then use solid wood coving and skirting boards to finish.

Roof Coverings

You can choose between a hipped or apex roof to suit you. The Garden Room comes with a choice of either Cedar Shingles or Slate Effect roofing tiles in grey or terracota.

Paint System

Crane Sheds and Summerhouses have worked closely with VALTTI to make this coating system available for your building. Our Valtti system is proven to be the best possible protection for exterior timber. Valtti is fully opaque and gives an exceptionally durable, extremely low maintenance, solid 4 coat finish. Our extensive colour range is inspired by nature and the soft neutral tones of traditional colonial buildings.

Doors

Within our workshops, we house our own Joinery Works so we make the double doors for our Garden Rooms . This ensures that the high quality that we demand is met and we can offer a bespoke service. Our doors are constructed from hemlock, which is a timber particularly suitable for doors as apart from being durable it is far less susceptible to movement and warping than other timbers traditionally used in doors. They are three quarter double-glazed using 4mm toughened safety glass, finished with solid brass furniture, a 5 lever mortise lock and fitted with draught excluders. You can opt for leaded lights, Georgian style or plain glass within your doors. It is possible to add further sets of doors to your Garden Room.

Windows

To afford a light and airy feel the Garden Room has 4 sets of windows. They are double glazed with 4mm toughened safety glass. All the windows are opening, finished with solid brass furniture and fitted with draught excluders. You can have plain, leaded or Georgian-style windows.

Cladding Options

Our timber cladding is machined from very high quality Redwood grown in North Sweden, close to the arctic circle. Because of the temperature, these slowly grown trees produce a much more dense and stable timber than others. The timber mill we partner and have very close links to is also FSC accredited like ourselves. Choose between:

Floor Options

Our standard and robust floorboards are set on closely spaced tanalised floor joists and are fitted underneath with insulation for your Garden Room. We treat the floorboards with a lacquer to protect and finish them (available in walnut, light oak or natural). We can offer heavy duty flooring should you require it.

Electric Packs

Your Garden Room will come complete with an electrical pack and heating. This alongside the lining and insulation ensures that your building can be used whatever the weather, all year round.

Professionally fitted by qualified electricians who take all the wiring to a consumer unit ready for you to connect to your electricity supply. Internal wiring will be fitted behind your lining. This shows what is included in your electrical pack:

	8 Way Consumer Unit, Main Switch takes 2 slots – 63 amp MCB – 16 amp and 6 amp Blanks
	thermostatic 2kva wall heater

Guttering

We will fit guttering around your Garden Room , including a downpipe. Guttering is available in black or white.

Base

All our buildings require a level solid base of the correct size. We offer a base service.
